As Director of Education for the Weitzman Institute, Dr. Karen Ashley is responsible for providing leadership and supporting the strategic growth of Weitzman Institute’s diverse educational programs. Dr. Ashley has 30+ years of expertise and leadership in adult education, higher education administration, accreditation, and CME/CE for health professionals. In her role at the Weitzman Institute in the Moses/Weitzman Health System, Inc., Dr. Ashley oversees Weitzman’s amazing Education team and a broad array of education activities, including Project ECHOs, learning collaboratives, and e-learning programs, for primary care providers and care teams at Federally Qualified Health Centers and other safety net settings across the U.S. Dr. Ashley has focused her career on adult education in health and health care, whether in academic or non-profit settings. Her areas of expertise include curriculum design and development, accreditation, faculty development, instructional design, and evaluation. She is also the Principal Investigator for several HRSA grants and leads other funded activities which support providers and care team staff who work with vulnerable and marginalized patient populations. In addition, she serves as a Surveyor for the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education. Dr. Ashley earned a Master of Education degree in Health Education and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership.
