Dr. Karoline Oliveira serves as the Inaugural Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at the Moses/Weitzman Health System, Inc. She brings more than 20 years of experience working with, and for, people from underrepresented, underserved and historically marginalized groups. In her role at Moses/Weitzman, Dr. Oliveira works across the organization to support, align and advance MWHS’s culture with its JEDI vision and strategic goals for heath equity and supporting a diverse workforce. She is frequently invited to present at conferences and professional meetings on a myriad of topics related the implementation of JEDI principles in community health. Prior to joining Moses/Weitzman Health System, Dr. Oliveira worked in higher education for 18 years as faculty, administrative staff and executive leadership. Her research interests and work focus on internal organizational culture and climate, along with creating a sense of belonging for those from underrepresented and historically marginalized groups. She is particularly committed to the lived experiences for members of these groups within healthcare and educational environments. Dr. Oliveira received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Rhode Island. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Cape Verdean Museum in Pawtucket RI.
