Dr. Veena Channamsetty is the inaugural Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Moses/Weitzman Health System. She previously served as CMO of Community Health Center, Inc., from 2013-2024, leading one of the largest FQHCs in the country and directing a staff of more than 200 primary care and specialty providers. Prior to assuming the CMO role at Community Health Center (CHC), Dr. Channamsetty practiced as a family physician at CHC’s Meriden facility for nearly a decade, where she cared for patients from newborns to the elderly in a comprehensive family practice. Dr. Channamsetty received her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and completed her Family Practice Residency at Central Maine Medical Center and is a board certified family physician.
As CMO, she led CHC’s successful initiative to become designated as a Patient Centered Medical Home, spearheaded numerous quality initiatives and the organization’s embrace of primary care expansion, telehealth and urgent care, and supported CHC’s education and training programs for the next generation of primary care providers. In addition, Dr. Channamsetty served as the Principal Investigator on numerous research grants through the Weitzman Institute, where she also holds a faculty appointment. She brings her decades of experience as a physician leader to her role at MWHS, where she will focus on advancing primary care initiatives throughout the Health System as well as nationally.
